ABI3(ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE 3)是一个植物特异性转录因子,属于B3结构域转录因子家族,在种子发育和萌发过程中起关键作用。它主要在种子中表达,调控种子成熟、休眠和萌发相关基因的表达。ABI3通过响应脱落酸(ABA)信号通路来抑制种子过早萌发,促进种子进入休眠状态。其表达产物含有多个功能域,包括B3 DNA结合域、酸性激活域和核定位信号,能够直接结合特定DNA序列调控下游基因。突变会导致种子对ABA不敏感,表现为过早萌发、脱水耐受力下降和贮藏物质积累异常。ABI3与ABI5、FUS3等转录因子共同构成种子发育调控网络,属于LAFL(LEC1、ABI3、FUS3、LEC2)调控网络的核心成员,这个基因家族的共性是都含有B3 DNA结合域,参与植物发育特别是胚胎发生和种子成熟的调控。当ABI3过表达时会导致种子过早进入成熟程序,抑制幼苗生长;而表达降低则会造成种子成熟缺陷,降低休眠程度和贮藏蛋白积累。ABI3功能异常与多种农作物种子质量下降有关,也是改良种子休眠性和抗逆性的重要靶基因。在拟南芥中的研究表明,ABI3还参与调控植物对干旱、盐胁迫等非生物胁迫的响应。
