RPS3A(核糖体蛋白S3A)是核糖体小亚基40S的一个组成部分,属于RPS基因家族(核糖体蛋白家族),该家族成员普遍参与核糖体组装和蛋白质翻译过程。RPS3A编码的蛋白在核糖体中直接结合mRNA,帮助解码遗传信息并调控翻译起始,其特点是兼具结构功能与额外生物学活性,如参与DNA修复和抗凋亡(抑制细胞程序性死亡)。主要作用位点为细胞质中的核糖体,但部分研究显示它可转位至细胞核响应DNA损伤。突变可能导致核糖体功能异常,引发核糖体病(ribosomopathy),典型表现为发育障碍、贫血或癌症易感性,例如与5q-综合征(一种骨髓增生异常综合征)相关。若RPS3A过表达,可能通过增强蛋白质合成促进肿瘤细胞增殖,或通过抑制凋亡通路(如减少促凋亡蛋白BAX的活性)加剧癌症进展;而低表达会导致翻译效率下降,影响细胞生长甚至触发核糖体应激反应(ribosomal stress),激活p53通路引发细胞周期停滞。该基因与家族其他成员的共性是高度保守性、多拷贝存在及部分功能冗余(即其他家族成员可部分替代其功能)。在疾病方面,除癌症外,RPS3A异常还与神经退行性疾病(如阿尔茨海默病)中蛋白质稳态失衡有关。专业术语解释:核糖体(ribosome)是合成蛋白质的细胞器;翻译(translation)指以mRNA为模板合成蛋白质的过程;抗凋亡(anti-apoptotic)指阻止细胞程序性死亡的功能。若存在术语差异,"核糖体应激反应"亦可称为ribotoxic stress response。

核糖体,催化蛋白质合成的细胞器,由一个小40S亚基和60S大亚基。一起这些亚基组成的4 RNA种类和大约80结构不同的蛋白质。该基因编码一种核糖体蛋白,它是40S亚基的一个组成部分。该蛋白属于S3AE家族核糖体的蛋白质。它位于细胞质中。编码基因鼠核糖体蛋白S3a中,也被称为V-fos的变换效应蛋白,在中断v型fos基因转化的鼠细胞的结果在转化表型的逆转。该基因共转录与U73A和U73B核仁小RNA基因,它们分别位于其第四和第三个内含子。作为典型编码核糖体蛋白的基因,有该基因通过基因组分散的多个经处理的假基因。另外剪接转录变体也发现了这种基因。 [由RefSeq的,2012年5月提供]
