Strain AC08T, isolated from the leaves of Aegiceras corniculatum, formed pale yellow colonies and was composed of short rods, non-motile, Gram-stain negative. The strain exhibited optimal growth at 30 °C, pH 7.0, and in the presence of 0.5–2.0% (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16 S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain AC08T shared the highest similarity with Sphingomonas desiccabilis ATCC BAA-1041T (98.3%) and Sphingomonas molluscorum KMM 3882T (98.0%), while showing ≤ 98.0% similarity to other recognized members of the genus Sphingomonas. Genomic relatedness analyses revealed that strain AC08T exhibits ANI, AAI and dDDH values (75.5–85.1%, 61.5–84.0% and 20.4–29.2%, respectively) below the standard species boundaries, supporting its designation as a novel species. The assembled genome is 3.6 Mbp in length, has a G + C content of 69.3%, and encodes 3,337 predicted functional genes. The major fatty acids (> 10.0%) consisted of C16:0, C16:1 ω7c, and C18:1 ω7c. The predominant respiratory quinone was identified as ubiquinone-10 (Q-10). The major polar lipids of strain AC08T were identified as phosphatidylglycerol, sphingoglycolipid, phosphatidylethanolamine, and diphosphatidylglycerol. Consequently, the combined genomic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic data support the proposal of a novel species, for which the name Sphingomonas mangrovi sp. nov. is proposed, with strain AC08T serving as the type strain (= MCCC 1K09448T=JCM 37566T).
