EGF growth promoting activity is neutralized by phorbol esters.

Abstract
The tumor-promoter, TPA, stimulates growth of human epithelial cells but not that of normal fibroblasts. In the presence of either EGF or FGF, TPA antagonizes the growth stimulatory activity of both factors in both cell lines.
