Ribonuclease inhibitor 1 (RNH1) is a cytoplasmic protein that binds to and inhibits intracellular and extracellular ribonucleases (RNases) across various tissues. By sequestering these enzymes, RNH1 maintains them in a latent form and plays a critical role in regulating RNA turnover, particularly the stability of messenger RNA (mRNA). Beyond its function in controlling intracellular RNase activity, this inhibitor is also implicated in the regulation of angiogenesis.
